This is a collection of about 470 fiddle tunes which have been transposed into alto clef (and usually down an octave) to play on the viola. The collection is slanted toward New England and contra dance tunes, but includes tunes from other traditions and in other styles as well. There are a number of waltzes and airs as well as contras, and tunes from Cape Breton, Québec, the Pacific Northwest, Ireland, England, Scotland, and other areas as well. Most of the tunes are traditional, but there is also a fair number of contemporary composed tunes. A few tunes include harmonies, also in alto clef.
